From Flipping Pages to Living Inside Them: Fostering Reading Identity and Engagement

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

As teachers of reading, it is crucial for us to have instructional tools in our toolbox that foster and promote healthy reading identities for all readers. During this session, participants will learn how to transition their craft from teaching text to teaching the reader. They will also learn how to release reading responsibility to students. Finally, participants will find that as our readers become invigorated with reading, our passion for teaching reading is ignited. Come and learn instructional moves and assessments for breathing life into your readers. Use your instructional moves to be the catalyst of change in the trajectory of the reading lives of your students. Redefine their reading history from reading as something that happens TO them, to empowered consumers of text!
